Hello everyone,
In times of sorrow, heartbreak, we all look for breakthrough. Breakthrough has to do with the knowledge of God – that He is your Daddy and that nothing is impossible with Him. We all know this, but in times of trouble, crisis and fear, we have to know this not only in our heads, but in our hearts. For the enemy works in our minds to get us to be anxious in our hearts.
Pressing through with prayer and really leaving it in God’s hands is a process that sometimes takes time for you to fully “get there”. It can be the biggest battle of your life, but do not give up. For in the battle, in the pressing, you feel crushed beyond words – weak. I use an expression that sometimes I feel “run over by a truck”. Your energy is gone and you may feel like you can’t go on. Don’t give up!
The battle is the Lord’s and when you get to the point of releasing it to Him – fully and not taking it back – breakthrough comes. First it will come to your spirit before physical breakthrough. It may come as a word from the Lord, or a revelation that brings peace. You may not see the physical manifestation immediately, but you know that the Lord just gave you peace, and even instruction in your spirit. Oh what freedom to have the chains of fear and worry broken in your mind!
One thing that can happen when people go through these things is what I call the 1-2 punch of the enemy. First he causes the situation, and then he makes you think that the Lord is mad at you and/or makes you feel guilty. Keep praying, keep pressing through, for God is not mad at you, He’s just producing new wine.
I’m not “there yet”, and I will only “be there” when I get to heaven. However, when you keep praying, the Lord will give you His strategies for breakthrough. Many times it’s just turning it over to Him to handle – and not taking it back. That’s the hardest part – not taking it back. For don’t we love to let our flesh take over?
The Lord will give you the words for battle every time your flesh rises and you “go with” the enemy’s thoughts. It may be just as simple as saying – All is well, God is taking care of it – whenever those thoughts raise their ugly heads.
So the secret of breakthrough is that it comes when you break through the enemy’s thoughts with God’s truth.

Yes, He is faithful to give us breakthroughs exactly when He knows best and it’s always when we’re at the end of ourselves so He alone will receive all the glory. Hi Ev,
Thank you so much Ev, for your your beautiful blog! I heard the words of the apostle Paul as I read it.
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me” Phil 3:14. You have His word written upon and hidden within your heart and like Paul, you take joy in sharing it with others. Lord knows, we are so hungry for His word and can never have enough. The “releasing and not taking it back” is the hardest and the sweetest part of all…”the secret”. Sweet surrender is what comes to my mind…perhaps with a little white flag staked in the middle of the battlefield…Our victory is in the Lord… or at least until
our next battle comes along! PRAISE GOD that we know Who wins the final one!!
Thank you Ev, for another blessing! Love, Kath
Dear Kath,
Thank you, my faithful friend, so much for your encouragement and your words of wisdom! Yes, the releasing and not taking back is truly the hardest, but we always have the victory in the Lord. Yes, in His Word, it says – the battle is Mine says the Lord!
Blessings, Evelyn
