Hello Everyone!
At this time of year, people are scurrying about to buy gifts for their loved ones and friends. Because we love them, we try to find the perfect gift- one that we know will bring them joy. We seem to be more sensitive to the poor and needy at Christmas time, as our hearts are more open to feel their pain and sorrow. We hope that our gifts will make their lives a little easier, or take a burden from them.
We all need a special gift now and then to lift our spirits, take away pain, or let us know that someone cares.
The Lord also gives us a gift that will help comfort those that are going through sorrow or a difficult time. Yes, salvation – the Good News – is the greatest gift. However this gift is in addition to His greatest gift of all. It has nothing to do with hurrying through malls or spending money. It’s the gift of hearing His heart for someone else. It’s the gift of words.
This is different from giving someone a word of encouragement from our own heart of flesh – good as that may be. These are words from the very heart of God. They may not make any sense or have any meaning to us, but have a very special meaning to the recipient – words that only God could know for them.
It takes a heart of love for the person to be open to hear the Lord’s heart for them. It takes being in God’s Presence so that we can be “tuned in” whenever He would put something in our hearts to bless someone that’s going through a hard time. His words make all the difference in the world.
What a wonderful gift! A gift for the receiver as well as for the one blessed to be God’s messenger. The joy for both is immeasureable.
Precious jewelry, pretty clothes costs thousands. The gift of words – priceless!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Blessings, Evelyn
