Hello Everyone,
In prayer this morning I got the impression of a red hot poker, like what you would use to stir embers in a fireplace. The end was red with heat. It came to mind that sometimes you have to stir the ashes to get the flame going again.
Some of us have grown weary and tired. This can cause us to become so worn out that our love has become as ashes that have a flame about to go out. Yet even though weary, there are still some embers of love in our hearts. We hang on to the Lord with every ounce of strength we have. Sometimes we feel as though the flame has gone out, but it hasn’t. Or, we get fearful of what will happen when the Lord stirs the ashes.
He wants to bring us closer to Him – not for punishment, but because of His love. He never wants His child to be separated from Him.
Most of us are weary because of battles that we have had to fight over a long period of time. We haven’t forgotten the Lord – no – on the contrary, we’ve pressed in to Him and trusted Him to help us in our need. At these times, He stirs the embers of strength, hope and joy. I have found that He does this through a blessing at just the right time.
It’s a stirring to keep us running the race – like when a cup of water refreshes the runner. I call these blessings, Boost Blessings, to give our spirits a boost and lift us up. The Lord stirs these embers of hope and joy to give us strength, for the joy of the Lord is our strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
Next time you are weary, a Boost Blessing may come your way. It could be in the form of an encouraging phone call, or card, a small gift – or a friend taking you for ice cream. Watch for these blessings, be aware and know that it’s the Lord stirring the embers to lift you up.
Even better, why not ask the Lord how you can be His hands to give a Boost Blessing to someone else today? After all, one Boost Blessing may lead to another!
Blessings, Evelyn
