Hello everyone,
Is the earth spinning faster these days or does it just seem that way? The days are flying by and although it is summer, busyness has kept me from enjoying it. It seems as if we just celebrated the Fourth of July and already school supplies are lining the shelves in the stores. What happened to those lazy days of summer? You know, the days when as a child, summer seemed to go on and on… Take a deep breath.
Everyone I talk to seems to be going through “situations” in their lives. I’ve had the most unusual summer myself – house fixes, car repairs – even bats in the house! Take a deep breath…
Then I remember – breathe in the breath of God. Remember His goodness. Take in His strength, His peace. Take a deep breath – just breathe it in. Think on what is good, lovely, having virtue. We are all such “do-ers.” That’s not a bad thing, but do we stop sometimes to look at the flowers? I mean really appreciate the beauty God gave us? Do we stop to smell the roses? Take in the fragrance – take a deep breath…
Even in doing for the Lord – do we forget to take time to “be” with Him? Can we take enough time to “catch our breath” so that we can take in His? This summer – take a deep breath…..
Blessings, Evelyn

The part about kids and summers really resonated with me. I’ve always set very high expectations for my children during the academic/school year, but have tried to leave their summers unstructured so they can just ‘be kids’.

Hello Brad
That’s so true. Our children need to take a breath as well. I so enjoyed my summers as a child.

You so beautifully and perfectly wrote, “Can we take enough time to “catch our breath” so that we can take in His? ” That is the essence of life in Yeshua, to stop wherever we are, summer, fall, winter, and spring, and to “catch our breath so that we can take in His.” His breath fills us with all of Him, all that is perfect, the breath of love, joy, peace, purpose, surrender, forgiveness, compassion, goodness, hope, sweetness, and beauty. His breath gives life, restoration, renewal, and strength. His breath causes us to lie down in green pastures and beside still waters. His breath opens our eyes to see Him and all He has created. His breath lingers. His breath fills us with all we need. Thank you for reminding me to take a deep breath, to take in the breath of the Lord, the breath that gives life and all that is beautiful and holy.
Dear Sherry
It is so obvious that you have the breath of God in you and it surrounds and envelopes you. That is what draws people to you, for they see in you the joy of the Lord. It provokes to jealousy, as the Bible says, and people will want what you have – the free gift that He has given to all who ask.
Thank you for responding in such a wonderful, insightful way.
Blessings,
Evelyn
