Hello everyone!
Summer seems to go faster and faster each year, and people always say that this happens as you get older. It my be partly true. Summers as a child seemed to last forever. Yet I sense things are just accelerating in this world. However, no matter how fast summers fly by, we all have some good memories that we can remember as the cold weather sets in.
I love to be in the pool. It’s so relaxing. If we get in with stress, the water just washes it all away. This one particular day I was visiting my daughter and family. Because they know I love being in the pool, we planned on going swimming after lunch. The sun came out, we got in our bathing suits, put on our sunscreen and headed for the back yard. Just as we got in the pool, we noticed a black cloud moving our way – oh no! Sure enough, a few raindrops started, but it wasn’t too big a cloud and we decided to see what happened. Well, it started to rain hard and we both looked at each other. It was not thundering, so we decided to stay in the pool – after all, we were wet anyway and the water was warm.
We started laughing. All we had to do is look at each other and the laughter would come. I’m sure the neighbors thought we were a little crazy, but we were having fun doing something – well, a little crazy! The sun came back out a short time later as it turned out to be a brief summer shower – but the memories will last forever.
Sometimes the rain comes into our lives and the clouds roll in, but the rain will not last forever. We may not realize it at the time, but God can take what seems like disappointment and turn it into memories.
Sometimes, we just have to keep swimming in the rain!

You made me smile while reading this. Thank you for the reminder to look for the sun (the Son) even in a cloudy season of life. I love how the Lord speaks to you. It is a gift to us.
Thanks Linda. AMEN! I remember an old song sung by Judy Garland titled, “Look for the Silver Lining”. It was from the 1940’s when people seemed to have a good outlook on life, even with all that was going on at that time. Thanks for you faithfulness in commenting.

You always have a unique perspective in how you look at things though God’s eyes! I’m always blessed as you take me away from the Monotony of my day jut for a moment. We are blessed in enjoying the simple pleasures that God give us. Swimming, reading in a beautiful place, sitting by a lake, watching the sun rise or set – you took me back to childhood on this one! You bless me.
Thanks so much Darrell for your comments. As adults, we are “trained to be scientific, logical, and ” mature” – but the Lord tells us to be childlike. We all need to enjoy the little things more. It sure would help get rid of stress! Thanks again Darrell. You are an encouragement to me.
Blessings, Evelyn
I also was transported to “childhood” through this message, Evelyn! What a wonderful memory you made that day with loved ones, and I love how the Lord turned it into a sweet lesson! To God be the Glory! And thank you for being His vessel to enrich our lives through!
Thank you for your comments Susie. Sometimes we “adults” have forgotten how to have plain old fun. Just a minute or two laughing does wonders for us and proves God’s word that says that laughter is the best medicine!

Hi, Ev.
I can’t believe the timing of this blog. Today I wanted to water our very parched lawn. So I attached our good old-fashioned sprinkler to a long hose and intermittently found myself dodging the sprays while dragging it here and there. I looked up at the height of the water droplets in perfectly spaced lines and thought, “Wow, I love cold water on a hot sunny day. It looks so good.” Then I remembered all the fun we had as kids running through the sprinklers in our bathing suits. I thought, “Ha! Why not?” The next several minutes I had a blast.
The Bible proves that water is a big deal to God; it’s everywhere from Genesis to Revelation. We’re going to have fun in the Kingdom to come.
Hi Joanne,
I can just picture you running through the sprinkler – call me next time and we’ll run through it together! I do believe that the Lord loves it when we have fun and in heaven He’ll be playing right along with us.
Blessings, Ev
Hi Evelyn,
Yes – we all do get a little rain sometimes, but it passes! And we always get through the storms! Nice story and as I was reading the comments -I like Judy Garland also. What a beautiful voice!
Hi Mary Ellen,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. it was good to hear from you! Yes the storms pass and we may even get to see the rainbow – that always brings hope and a smile.
Blessings, Evelyn
Hi Ev,
What a fun family time that must have been, and such a beautiful allegory for so many wonderful bible verses about childlike joy,
seeing the Sun in the rain, being content where we are etc.!
“I will send down showers in season: there will be showers of blessings” Ezekiel 34:26
Thank you Ev, for showering us with His sunshine!!!
Dear Kath,
Thank you for commenting. I hadn’t thought about showers of blessings! You always have such a great perspective on things. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings, Evelyn
