Hello everyone!
I have several farms near my house that allow people to come and pick vegetables and fruit. At this time of year, I start thinking about doing just that – picking fruit – peaches, pears and soon, apples. Some farms give you a tool to reach the choice fruit at the top of the tree, but sometimes, you just have to shake the tree for the top fruit to fall off. Otherwise, the fruit – the tree’s treasure – is out of reach.
Sometimes the earth has to be shaken in order for its treasure to be found. Gold and other gems have to be sifted from the soil. I have a mine near my house that allows people to come and dig for rocks that glow. I love finding beautiful shells along the shore. One time I was speaking at a shore town and I found sand dollars – what a treasure! Sometimes the sea’s waves will roar in order for it to bring up the treasures from its floor onto the shore. Otherwise these treasures are hidden – unattainable.
There are treasures deep inside of people that would never be discovered if not for a shaking. Talents, abilities, wisdom, new spiritual awareness, closeness to the Lord, even confidence – not in themselves, but in God and what they can do through Him.
Sometimes the shaking is needed just to wake up people. Like Sleeping Beauty, they have to have an experience with their Prince – a kiss to awaken their love from its slumber. The shaking itself isn’t to be feared. It’s what comes from the shaking that’s important.
Are you being shaken to arise, to wake up so that you can find the good fruit – treasures that may have been hidden, promises from long ago that have been buried? Or are you being shaken because the fruit is in danger of being spoiled? The Bible says a tree is known by its fruit. A good tree produces good fruit. All fruit ripens, but not all fruit is good. Only when the fruit is shaken from the tree can we tell if it’s good fruit.
What happens when you are shaken? Is good fruit produced? Or does fruit spoiled with bitterness come forth? Bitter fruit can’t be eaten. Sweet fruit will nourish souls. What treasures will be unearthed in you?
Shaking isn’t always a bad thing – especially when it produces a treasure and good fruit!
Blessings, Evelyn

Thank you dear Evelyn for this wonderful blog. It is a beautiful reminder of how the Lord desires us to be when our lives are shaken. Life is uncertain but if we hang on to Him we will not be shaken. Praise His name.

Dear Linda,
Thank you Linda for taking the time to respond. It’s amazing how as we go through shakings, we see that ultimately, God works all things for good and that treasures do emerge. As I write about in Lessons I learned from the Lord, the proof is in the fruit!
