Hi Everyone,
Most of us have in our houses a “re-set” button that we can push when circuits are over – loaded. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we also had a re-set button for our bodies and minds when we’re on “over-load”?
I was thinking about this the other day as I was feeling overloaded with all the big decisions I had to make. This led to researching and more researching and a brain that was definitely on overload – a result of having to make many decisions in a short time. Anyone else ever feel this way?
It seemed all the major decisions were saving themselves so that they could happen all at once. These things were not all bad things. In fact, most were not. Even what I thought was difficult, was because I just didn’t want to deal with more changes. God was actually causing these changes for good.
As I was looking back, I saw how the Lord wanted to bless me with some really good things, but in order for Him to get me to receive what He had for me, He had to make some changes. Out with the old – in with the new. However I wanted to hang on to the old familiar things – like my old computer, my old car – that I knew how everything worked and handled. I was comfortable with these old things.
Yet the Lord wanted to bless me. Didn’t He say, ‘Behold I do a new thing’? Then why do I stress out when it comes to new things? I found that you really can teach an old dog new things! However, when He decides to do a lot of new things at once, I need the re-set button so my circuits don’t overload!
Amazingly, He did give us a re-set button where all the stresses go and we have peace. His Name is Jesus. We can find rest for our over-loaded circuits, rest for our tired bodies and minds – in Him. He very often does this, not only in my prayer time with Him, but at times of extreme overload, He makes my body slow down to rest and have such peace that only He could have done it. He re-sets us this way to give us times of refreshing because at these times, we can’t do anything BUT rest in Him.
As we do this, we realize what He’s done for us in the past and how much He has blessed us. We can count on Him! God truly works all things for good. In my first book, Lessons I learned from the Lord, I write that when He says “for good” – it has two meanings. One is that He does what’s best – for our good. The other meaning is that He does it for good – permanently.
Sometimes He just has to move us to receive them! Then as we move forward and receive, we can look back and say. ‘Look what the Lord has done!’ He does do better for us than at our beginnings.
Let the Lord refresh you today. All it takes is – pressing the re-set button!
Blessings, Evelyn

Thank you for sharing this blog. I relate to you about being overwhelmed. We need this reminder that the Lord sends all the changes and happenings into our lives because He knows what is right for us. God bless you.

Dear Linda,
I think we can all relate to this at one time or another – especially these days with all the crazy things happening in this world! But God is always there for us and does turn all things for our good.
Thank you so much for your comments – they are very encouraging and appreciated!

AMEN! I simply love the every day analogies which the Lord gives you to portray the deeper truths of Christ. You have a way of finding us “where ever we are” only to “bring us home” to Jesus! I truly felt His peace in
your message.
Thank You EV… Love, Kath

Hi Kath,
This is how the Lord speaks to me and I believe it’s for two reasons – one, that I will understand – and two, so that I remember! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I so appreciate your feedback!
