Hello everyone,
The other day I was remembering a lighthouse that Bill and I saw on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. It was 24 years ago, and Bill had surprised me with a second honeymoon for our 20th anniversary. He had even arranged for us to renew our vows. It was perfect and beautiful. One day we drove around the island and came upon a beautiful old lighthouse. It was on top of a very steep cliff and we watched as the waves pounded the rocks along the coast.
As I was remembering this wonderful time in my life, God started speaking to me about how He is our “Lighthouse.” He lights the way and keeps us on the right path so that we don’t crash. He keeps us safe in the storms of life. We are His children – of His house. It’s a house of safety and protection. A house of revelation. He keeps the darkness away.
We, as His children, are also lighthouses. I have a friend who loves lighthouses. She has several in her house. She may not realize it, but she is one of God’s “lighthouses.” She “lights up” when she talks about the Lord. Even when she has problems, as she starts to talk about the Lord, joy fills her face.
Isn’t that exactly what others should see in us? I want that overflowing love of the Lord to light up and shine through me. I want it to be bright enough to let others see Christ instead of me.
Now, all you lighthouses out there – Arise, shine……
Blessings, Evelyn
