Hello everyone!
I’ll start this post out with Isaiah 60 – Arise, Shine, for your Light has come! We are coming up on Thanksgiving and then, Hanukkah and Christmas. It is indeed a season of lights! The Lord has been putting this scripture on my heart for some time now and I sense that this is the season!
The Lord tells us that His glory shines from us. Now if we will admit it, sometimes we just don’t feel this way. We may have experienced loss or a great hurt in our lives and certainly don’t feel as if we are “shining”. We may smile and go through the motions of life, but maybe as just a shell of who we once were. We’ve all been there at one time or another in our lives. We may have even become afraid of opening up our hearts again – so we just open them a little bit, so as not to expose it all.
We try to get our joy back, but it can only come when we allow the Lord to heal us. There’s nothing we can do. All the self-help books and the conferences won’t do it. Oh, they may pump us up for a short while, but it’s nothing lasting. The deeper the wound, the deeper we have to allow the Lord to go into our heart to heal it.
Isaiah speaks of darkness covering the earth and gross darkness the people – BUT – and here’s the good news – the Lord shall arise upon you and His glory will be seen upon you. He wants us to turn off the gloom and turn on the light.
The only way to get rid of the darkness is to turn on the light switch. To do this requires us to keep your eyes on the Lord and to depend on Him to provide, heal and protect you. He is always there for us – all we have to do is call upon Him. I wrote an article for Inner Voice Magazine titled “Just Whistle” I mention an old song in it from a movie that always made me feel happy. (You can find the link to it at the end of this blog.) Praise is one way to turn the darkness to light.
Most of all, if we keep the Lord in focus, keep His face in front of us, we find that His Presence is really – the Light Switch!
Have a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas!
Blessings, Evelyn

I love this blog. It is just what I needed. The Lord has been placing the word Light in my heart lately, too. A little light will shine bright in the darkness. Thank you so much Evelyn.

Dear Linda,
Thank you so much for responding. This is definitely the time for us to Arise and Shine! All it takes is a flicker of light to dispel the darkness. I think the Lord is telling this to many of us in this season. Thank you for confirming this word.

G-D is so simple, loving, kind. He makes it so simple for us — we turn our eyes to Jesus and He willingly does the rest. Yet somehow we forget that He is just a whisper, an unspoken cry, a breath away. Somehow we forget that we are not the ones who are supposed to make ourselves shine — it is He, who is Light, who readily and joyously shines His light through us. Thank you so much for this simple but profound message from the L-RD. Thank you for speaking G-D’s message to me and to all of us, His message of love, hope, healing, understanding, compassion, light, and life. These words quieted my soul, opened my eyes, and showed me the love and gentleness of our Abba in new ways. Yes, Jesus, shine YOUR light through this weak but submitted vessel!

Dear Sherry,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful insight about His Light in us. Yes it is the Lord Who does it all. We may think we have to strive and make it happen – but God. May we all shine so brightly that when others see us, they see Jesus in us.

I loved what you wrote Ev. It’s so simple, and yet for us, it can be so hard, and the harder we try, the more we miss.
Like you said, all we need to do, is keep our eyes on Him, to see Him more and more. I suppose because of our sinful nature, it’s not a natural or easy thing for us to do. Perhaps the only way we can see Him is through His grace… and by praying that HE would increasingly grant us His grace to see Him more.
I thank Him for our friendship… more and more, I see Him in you… Love, Kath

Dear Kath,
Thank you for your beautiful response. You also shine His light to all you come in contact with. We are all in a learning process and will be until we are perfected as His lovely Bride in heaven. Until then, may we see His face in front of us at all times. Thank you for your wisdom and your insight.
Blessings, Evelyn
