A friend’s husband went to be with the Lord this past week – very suddenly – and it got me to thinking. Maybe it’s my age or the times we are living in, but lately I have been hearing more about people wanting to know more about heaven. Most everyone has had a loved one go to heaven. When a loved one goes home, although we rejoice for them if they have known the Lord, it is us, as the ones left behind on earth, who become lost. They are not lost, for we know where they are. However, everything in our lives – in the natural and spiritual – feels as if it gets turned upside down.
Heaven becomes so important to us and we want to learn more about it. We hunger to have more revelation about this place where our loved one is now living, and where we will be someday too. We hunger for the details. Although we know it is a beautiful, wonderful place, we hunger for these details like never before.
When we hunger in the natural, we search for food. When we hunger in the spiritual, we search for the Lord to give us revelation. His spiritual food. God’s Word says that when we seek Him, we will find Him. When we want to learn in the natural, we seek out the teacher, we look for the answer. When we want to learn in the spiritual, we seek out the great Teacher, the Lord, and His Word, and He will give us the answer. We can come to Him and ask Him anything.
Keep asking, keep seeking, and the door will be opened. The door of His wisdom and revelation. There has to be a hunger first, then the desire to satisfy it. Then the asking and seeking.
Isaiah 55:1 says, Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without price. God will give us what we need and we will find if we seek Him with all our heart. He gives us one piece at a time until everything comes together perfectly. We keep seeking as we get one piece of revelation, for the next and the next.
No matter what you are going through, seek the Lord. Run to Him and He will open the door. Be hungry!
