My husband Bill and I would always hold hands. I loved it. I especially felt secure when he held my hand in crowds. Bill, a tall man of 6 feet 2 inches, would take my hand and go ahead of me to make the way. Since I am short, it made me feel very secure with his big hand over mine, knowing I would not get lost in the crowd.
This past Christmas, my daughter and son-in-law treated me to a play – The Lion King. All six of us had a wonderful time. My three teenaged granddaughters are all much taller than I am and the play was very crowded. I tried to stay with my family, but at times, thought I would be swallowed up and lost in the crowd.
Lo and behold, I watched as my granddaughter Ally, looked back to see if I was still with them, and reached for my hand to make sure I was safely led through the crowds. She went ahead of me, holding tightly onto my hand, just as her Grandfather always did. It touched my heart.
Isn’t that what Jesus does for us? He takes us by the hand and leads us along the best pathway of our lives so we don’t lose our way or go in a direction that will harm us. All insecurity leaves when we feel His gentle guidance – this is the way, walk in it.
When you get confused about which direction to take, grab His hand. He is always there with outstretched hand, just waiting for yours. You see,
He loves holding hands.
This is beautiful. I can picture Bill being very protective and caring of you. Your dear granddaughter sounds like a lovely caring girl. Jesus is always by our side to guide us through the unknowns, the deep waters, and the ups and downs of our lives. Everyone can relate! Cling on to Jesus! Thank you for sharing you gift Ev
