Happy New Year everyone! My wish for you is that God will bless each one of you exceeding abundantly this year!
I was thinking about this blog and had intended to write about New Year’s resolutions, however Philippians 3:13 keeps coming to mind. (Brethren, ……….but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,) Although Paul is talking about what he did in the past in this scripture, many of you have had a difficult 2009 (and maybe a difficult few years). Many have suffered all kinds of losses that have grieved you and left wounds and hurts. Many have been disappointed time and time again and are having trouble moving forward with hope for your future.
I want to encourage you that the Lord knows every loss and hurt you have suffered. He collects every one of your tears. Sometimes the hurt is so bad that we cannot move forward. Release it to Him and put it in His hands because only He can heal. You see, all have suffered loss and hurt in some way at one time or another. Jesus suffered too – on the cross. When we look to the end result of Jesus dying on the cross, we see that through the loss came victory. We will have victory if we do not give up! Paul was looking ahead to finish the race. It is only through Christ – not in our own strength – that we can move on.
I also want to encourage you with Psalm 68.
I would like to ask those of you who have been through losses, hurts and disappointments and have overcome to encourage those who are now going through these things. Give a short comment on how you found victory. Just click on the comment button to reply.
My prayer for you this year is, The Lord bless thee and keep thee: The Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (Numbers 6:24-26.)
Have a blessed and victorious New Year!
