Hello everyone,
Many times we think we have heard from the Lord – yet we did not, it was our flesh. However. the opposite is also true. Many times we hear from the Lord, but we conclude we did not. This happens – and especially happens most often – when what we hear doesn’t come to pass immediately. We’re so quick to “throw out” the word as our flesh. We, in our infinite human minds, set a time table on when this should happen. When it doesn’t, we think we “missed” it. Although I know better, at times I find myself doing this very thing. Was that You, Lord? Eh?
A good example of this is when Lessons I learned from the Lord was complete. I sensed the Lord telling me to send it to the publisher (Strang Communications, now Charisma Media) on April 5th – which I did. Then shortly after, I sensed as I was praying that the Lord was telling me that by July 4th, I would get word that it was accepted for publishing. I was like a little child waiting for Christmas!
Well, July 4th came and went and I thought I’d “missed” it. Yet deep in my spirit, I knew to wait a little longer. In September, the Lord woke me up and I knew that I knew that the book was accepted and the letter was lost in the mail. I had no reason to think that the letter could be lost – after all, I’ve always gotten my mail. However the urgency was so strong that the next day I emailed the publisher to ask if they had made a decision.
Three days later, I received an email back saying, Mrs. Lang, we apologize, our letter of April 28th must have gotten lost in the mail. Your book has been accepted for publishing! I would come to find out that the devil tried to stop Lessons I learned from the Lord many times – another “lost” email when asked to be on The Harvest Show, endorsements getting lost, etcetera., etcetera. The Lord always saw to it that these things would be found in time.
There’s a chapter in Lessons I learned from the Lord titled, “Timing is Everything” – so you would think I wouldn’t have thought I had missed the July 4th word. I have to remind myself sometimes of what the Lord teaches me. Sometimes I have to go back and – read the book!
In this New Year, be encouraged that what the Lord said He will do, will surely come to pass – in His timing.
Happy New Year!
Blessings, Evelyn
So true, Evelyn! Timing IS everything…God’s timing, that is! Love that we can trust His timing is perfect for all things, and love it when I hear Him correctly and discern His voice! I also need reminders though to pray regularly for that discernment and to listen carefully! Thanks for a great article on this!
In His Love,
Susan
Dear Susan,
Thank you so much for your insightful response. Without praying and listening regularly, we can’t have discernment!
Blessings, Evelyn
Dear Evelyn,
Thank you for listening to the Lord and for writing this blog to share with us. I know I personally needed to be reminded of God’s perfect timing this week. When Rom.8:28 says ALL things, it includes God’s timing. Amen!
Love,
Linda
Dear Linda,
Thank you for responding. Yes, it’s so true, God does work all things for good. Sometimes we give up before we give Him time to do it!
Blessings, Evelyn
