Hello Everyone,
If you have accepted the Lord in your heart, He has made a covenant with you that is not one of contingency, for it doesn’t depend on how good you are. It doesn’t depend on how much you do for Him, or whether or not you fail. His covenant with you stands forever, and the only one who can break it, is you. You can’t break it by not being good enough, or failing – but only by willingly rejecting Him. When you love Him, you can’t do that.
Therefore His covenant does not have a contingency clause in it. It is a covenant made with His Blood to seal it. Your part is just loving Him and receiving His love. It’s hard for us as humans, to understand that we do not have to work for it, or be good enough, but just accept His free gift. That’s why in the Bible it says that there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
All it takes when we fail is to ask the Lord to forgive you and it is done. It is finished, just as He said on the cross. And not only that, but He remembers our sins no more! (Hebrews 8:12) Wiped clean forever. We may think we have to hold onto them until we feel better or said we’re sorry enough times, but God forgives right away and then He forgets. It’s not what we did – it’s what He’s done.
He did it all for us – in His Name – the Name of Jesus – He did it all in the Name of Love. There is no turning back, He will never change His mind about loving us. He did not die for us because we were going to be perfect. He died for us even when He knew we could not be perfect. (See A Lifetime of Love – The Love Relationship, Amazon link below.) You see, it’s not a contingency it’s a covenant!

I am excited to let you know that “A Lifetime of Love – The Love Relationship” is now available on Amazon.com! It is about the Father’s love for us as His child, Jesus’ love for us as His Bride, and Holy Spirit’s love for us as our comforter and friend – as well as our earthly love for our spouses, family and friends and the hurts we have in dealing with real, ordinary imperfect people! Evelyn, you helped me understand better what happens with a Covenant Relationship with the Lord …when someone rejects Him…breaking the covenant, so to speak! But not causing Him to love less, just breaking the relationship. In such a case, good to know he is so gracious and merciful and a God of second chances, who loves unconditionally!
Good to hear from you Susie! God is so faithful and will always keep His covenant with us – we can fail, but the Lord forgives as soon as we ask. We are the only ones that can ever reject His love and forgiveness. And if we love Him, we can’t.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Dear Kath,
Yes, what the Lord did for us is really profound. If we could really understand that He made a covenant with us that has no contingencies, it would just fill us to overflowing with such love. Thank you so much for responding to this blog.
