Hello Everyone!
Remember when you were a child, going on treasure hunts? There’s something about finding something that is not readily seen – an adventure.
On one trip to Hawaii, Bill and I went on a submarine that went to the bottom of the ocean. Although that part of the ocean was not very deep, it was interesting to see what was on the bottom – things we couldn’t see from the shore or on a boat just looking into the water.
There are natural treasures and treasures lost from ships that sunk long ago. It’s a dark place, but good things can be hidden there, and found if only you shine a light. There are people who enjoy going deep inside the ocean to see and find them.
In the dark places of our lives – times of sorrow, troubles and fear – it’s hard to find the treasure. It’s at those times that we think our lamps have gone out. They have not, they have only been dimmed for a time.
If we can only focus on the good things – even the little blessings – we will see the light. At first it may only be a glimmer. It is not easy at those dark times to do this. What we see is what we get, is an old saying with some truth in it. Look to the Lord, focus on Him and see the blessings He has given you. Don’t make mountains out of mole hills. Don’t let little things trip you up. If you fail, get back up and don’t look back at it. Regrets dim your light. Keep moving forward toward the Lord and let His light shine on you. His plans for you are good and will be accomplished if you don’t give up!
Let His light so shine that out of these dark places will come treasure. The treasure of increased faith, trust, and yes, even joy. There really is light at the end of the tunnel. Night does pass and joy comes in the morning.
Just keep your eyes on the Lord, the Light that never dims. The closer you get to the Lord, the brighter the light will be. Break through darkness into light. Remember how the Lord has always brought you out of hard times. Nothing has changed, for the Lord is God and He changes not. He understands and will bring you into a plce of peace and rest. Then your joy will be full again.
Although it doesn’t always seem possible, treasures can be found in the dark. All it takes is some light.
Blessings, Evelyn

Yes, an intentional treasure hunt can be quite exciting as we seek for and find hidden and wonderful treasures. Yet as you wrote, sometimes we find ourselves on an unexpected treasure hunt where everything around us seems dark, unfamiliar, and perhaps scary. You have shared the secret to treasure hunts of all types and in all places — the LORD. Just recently, I proved your words to be true when I found myself in one such treasure hunt. What I discovered was I found the most priceless treasure — JESUS! He was right there shining His light, holding me tight, giving me increased faith and trust as you wrote about, and even great joy. Yes, Ev, you have given us the secret to whatever treasure hunt or circumstances we find ourselves in: “Although it doesn’t always seem possible, treasures can be found in the dark. All it takes is some light. Just keep your eyes on the Lord, the Light that never dims.” Thank you, dear friend, for the treasures I have found in you and in this blog.
Dear Sherry,
Thank you so much for your response – it was a treasure to me! You too, have found the secret – Jesus! I pray that you will always find your treasures and that joy will always be found in the morning.

Such fruitful words. The Lord has leveraged the most fertile part of you as a person and the seeds He has planted have been strategically placed in your heart for full fruition. These insights are the treasures (crop) from the seeds The Lord has planted in your life. Thank you for sharing and allowing The Light of The World who stepped down into darkness, so we could never be “ left in the dark.”
Dear Louise and Joey,
Thank you so much! The only word I can think of is “WOW” to respond. Very insightful. Maybe you should be writing too!
Blessings, Evelyn
Thank you for writing these blogs, Ev. These are treasures to me. I look for the time to sit quietly and read these, then meditate. Always something comes to my mind and it springs forth from your little parable. The good news is you are not a hidden treasure, Ev. You are a light to many groping their way in the dark. You always show up with a flashlight and a guiding hand. Great is your reward!
Thank you Joanne for your kind words. To God be the glory in everything. Sometimes I feel as if my flashlight’s batteries went dead – but God. I think we all grope around in the dark at times, but thank You Lord for giving us friends to hold up our arms when we get tired or fail. Know that your light shines brightly Joanne!
Blessings, Evelyn
God seems to place His most precious treasures in the dark for a time.
He sent His only Begotten Son into His darkest hour to die on the cross for our sins and when the sky
had turned it’s blackest, He received Him into His arms, so that, we too, could spend eternity with Him.
I praise the Lord for bright sunny skies and you!!
Dear Kath,
Thank you so much for your response. You always are so insightful when you write!
I praise the Lord for good friends as you!
