Hello everyone,
I wanted to add on to what was posted last time in “Are we there yet.” Although we may not realize it, while we are waiting for God’s promises to come about, He’s doing a work in us. Very often we think that the wait isn’t accomplishing anything – but that’s only because we don’t see the growth taking place in us.
God very often explains things to me with analogies. If you’ve read Lessons I learned from the Lord, you’ve read many of them. God knows that I understand and remember more that way. In the book, there’s a chapter titled, “You’ve Come A Long Way Baby, but You’re Not There Yet.” I give an analogy about growth, and how we don’t always realize how much our child has grown because we see them every day. However, when someone visits who has not seen them in awhile, they usually are surprised at how big they are! It’s the same when God is working in us.
You also know from reading Lessons I learned from the Lord that God very often gives me analogies pertaining to sweets. He knows I love them! This one is not in the book, but I thought of how a baker puts together a cake. He puts all the ingredients together, then puts it in the oven to bake. After the proper amount of time, he takes it out. It’s complete and ready for its purpose. It smells so good. I was told that’s one of the ways you know something is done.
When God created us, He put everything that comprises us together perfectly. Just the right ingredients to make us into who we are and what we will become in Him. But then, just at the proper time, comes the fire. Now we are complete and ready for our purpose. The fire (trials) we go through can sometimes make us perspire! However, God will not let us be burned. There’s no smell of smoke upon us. Instead there is a sweet fragrance rising up to the Lord!
God has to make us ready for our purpose. If we rush things, the end result will be incomplete. If you take a cake out of the oven too soon, you won’t be able to use it. If we rush ahead of the Lord, He can’t use us. I don’t know about you, but I find it’s so hard to wait when I know something good is coming. Just like the cake, you can smell when it’s almost done.
Let’s be patient, knowing that everything is working together and it will be sooo good.
You’re almost done!
Blessings, Evelyn
